words theater is a personal project by mokokoma mokhonoana, a south african, boyfriend, brother, heterosexual, photography enthusiast, graphic designer, employee, typography devotee, philosopher, author, creative, heavy coke drinker, black coffee junkie and simplicity addict. the idea behind this is quite simple, i try to use letterforms of a word or name to literally illustrate it’s meaning or intended effect. primary focus will be on economic, political, environmental and social issues. the challenge is to look beyond the beauty of the type and instead use its structure to communicate a message, an idea or to evoke an emotion. since typography is pictures of words the letters alone should tell the story, hence i don’t have an area on this website to explain the idea behind each word. the frequency of adding new words to this project is irregular, it will purely depend on time, life and inspiration. be a groupie and subscribe to this site through email or rss feed to be the first to know whenever i employ letters to communicate. i won’t tell, i swear. alphabets communicate no message, evoke no emotion when on idle but wait until they get rearranged and reused, they move the world. i really play well with other kids so you can get in touch with me for whatever reason as long as you’re not trying to sell me anything. all content of this site is copyrighted to me. i have three friends who just came out of jail and are desperately looking for an excuse to go back, a black belt in karate, four fully-loaded guns, nine knives and my friend’s grandma performs wonders with lightning at affordable rates, so i really don’t think it would be a good idea for you to use any of my work as your own. oh, you’re free to follow me on twitter.
